Holiday Club, Tuesday 31st Aug - Saturday 4th Sept 2010
At the end of every summer holiday, St Luke's runs a Holiday Club for children aged 5-11. The church centre is transformed into another world as we welcome around 100 children for 5 action-packed mornings of games, competitions, drama, action songs, workouts, exciting challenges, large-screen videos, Bible stories, quizzes and crafts. The penultimate day is dressing-up day and we give great prizes at the end of the week to children who have caught our eye for different reasons. And there's usually a chance before it's all over to splat your leaders with a custard pie!
Each child is placed in one of 3 age groups: 5-6's, 7-8's and 9-11's. Within these groups, children are placed within a small group of around 6 others and supervised by dedicated leaders. Each morning, the children are in their specific age groups for some of the time, and then all together as a large group for the remainder. We invite parents to join us for the end of the Club for a grand prize-giving finale and a barbeque together.
Each year, we take a different theme. Previous themes include:
- Heroes
- Mission Impossible - Secret Agents
- Knight's Quest - Medieval
- Gold Rush - Wild West
- Paradise Island
- Going for Gold
