Congregations
St Luke’s recently launched a new set of services because of increased demand—exactly the same issue it encountered four years ago when we had to begin a whole new service.
So many families with young children have been coming to the church over recent years that we are launched a new programme of services to support this growth, as well as the increase in attendance by teenagers and young adults.
There is one morning service at 9.30am. This service has a contemporary feel and seeks to address important life issues. There are separate activities for children, in a style similar to our summer Holiday Club. At special occasions throughout each year (eg. Easter and Christmas) the children and adults will be together for an All-Age Service.
At 5.00pm there is a quieter service with space for reflection. A variety of musicians lead the worship, with a blend of older hymns and more modern songs. On the first Sunday of the month there is a tea together at 4.00 pm.
At 7.30pm there is a lively service with a relaxed, contemporary feel, with regular opportunities for community-building through food and conversation.
With this new set of services, we are responding to give greater capacity for the growth we are already experiencing. Lack of space is an exciting issue to address! We have been very encouraged by the stories people tell of God at work in their lives. Everyone is welcome at any of the services and we hope that they will offer greater opportunities for people to explore the relevance of the Christian faith for their everyday lives.
Midweek service
A service of Holy Communion is held at 9.15 am every Thursday morning in the church.
Sound and tapes
A public address system is used during services and there is a loop system provided. The sermons at the services are recorded and tapes are available to borrow or to buy.
