Alpha Course
What is alpha ?
Alpha runs as a series of sessions spread over several weeks. Each session has three key things - food, a talk and a good conversation. The course creates space where people come together to discuss life's big questions. Through talks, short films and great conversations you'll have the chance to explore the meaning of life and the Christian faith.
Alpha has been run all over the world in churches, pubs, prisons, homes and on-line where millions and millions of people have loved taking part.
HOW DOES ALPHA WORK ?
TALKS - there is a talk designed to engage and inspire conversation. It is usually around 30 minutes long and is given live or played as a video. Talks explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from "Who is Jesus ?" and "How can we have faith ?" to "Why and how do I pray?" and "How does God guide us?"
DISCUSSIONS - one of the most important parts of an Alpha course is the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas on the topic and simply discuss in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say. The philosophy is "no question too simple or too hostile."
When is it happening ?
Our next Alpha Course will start on Thursday 7th November 2024 at 7.30 pm. It will be at St Luke’s Church.
